Get Toned and Show Off Your Arms

Tank top season is here, which means it’s time to tone those arms! Today we’re sharing some of our favorite at-home moves that target your shoulders, triceps and deltoids so you can wear your favorite summer tops with confidence. Don’t have weights? Freeze a couple of water bottles and get those arms moving. And don’t forget to scroll to the bottom for some of our best selling sleeveless tops.

Exercises for Toned Arms: Rear Delt Raises

TopShelf Clothes | Exercises for toned arms

What to Do: You can either sit or stand for these. Keep your back as straight as possible, slight bend in knees and slowly lift the weights away from your body and towards the ceiling. Don’t go above parallel to really target your shoulders. Concentrate on squeezing your back together at the top of the rep. Use a light weight and repeat for 1 minute.

Exercises for Toned Arms: Tricep Dips

TopShelf Clothes | Exercises for Toned Arms

What to Do: Start seated with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Place your hands just behind your hips, fingertips facing forward. Draw your abs in tight as you lift your hips up off the floor, pressing down through your hands. Lift your right leg and extend it up towards the ceiling. Bend your elbows and lower yourself to just above the floor. Quickly press back up. That’s one rep. Complete 10 reps with your right leg lifted, 10 with the left, and then move right into your hovering sit up [2B].

Form tip: Emphasize the press up, not the drop down, on your dips. Try not to sink into your hands, but instead press up pushing with the backs of your arms to help alleviate any stress on the wrists.

Exercises for Toned Arms: Double Raise

TopShelf Clothes | Exercises for Toned Arms

What to Do: Stand with feet hip-width apart, hands at sides, a weight in each hand. Raise left arm in front of you, weight vertical, as you raise right arm to side, weight horizontal, to shoulder level (as shown). Return to start. Repeat, switching arm positions, for 1 rep. Do 3 sets of 12 reps.

TopShelf Clothes | DIY Hair Growth Treatments

First off, you are very lucky. If you have long, voluminous hair, you can pretty much sport any style. However, you also have a lot more to maintain, so whether you’re fighting the east coast winter or basking in the California sun, here are some at-home ways to refresh your hair. These DIY hair treatments can be made without ever leaving your kitchen.

DIY Hair Treatments: Olive Oil + Egg Yolk

TopShelf Clothes | DIY Hair Treatments

The protein and vitamin rich combo that comes from olive oil and egg yolk helps strengthen hair and soften dry, damaged strands.

  1. Mix 2 egg yolks with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, then dilute with about half a cup of water.
  2. Slowly and thoroughly massage the resulting mask into your scalp.
  3. Let set for 15-20 minutes, rinse it out as usual.
  4. You can shampoo afterward if you want to but it’s not necessary.

How Often: This treatment is effective enough that you only have to do it 1-2 times each month.

DIY Hair Treatments: Coconut Oil + Avocado

TopShelf Clothes | DIY Hair Treatments

Coconut oil and avocado is a great hair growth treatment because they add luster to dry hair and help remove dandruff while strengthening strands.

  1. Heat coconut oil on stove top
  2. Massage one tablespoon of warm hot oil into your hair from the roots to the tips
  3. Next, massage avocado into just the tips of your hair
  4. Leave in for 10-15 minutes, then use cool water to rinse it, followed by shampoo.

How Often: Once per week for maximum results

DIY Hair Treatments: Mustard + Egg Yolk + Oil

TopShelf Clothes | DIY Hair Treatments

Mustard works to increase blood circulation into the skin surface, increasing hair growth.

  1. Mix 1 tablespoon of mustard powder, 1 egg yolk and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (almond/olive also work)- apply to wet hair.
  2. Wrap hair with plastic wrap and cover with a towel for warmth. Wait 20 minutes.
  3. Rinse with cool water, and then use your normal shampoo and conditioner.

Note: Mustard causes a tingling irritation that is necessary to increase blood circulation for hair growth. If the burning is too intense, reduce dose.

How Often: Once per week for maximum results
